Behind the curtain is part of an exploratory approach. In the performing arts, New technologies are used to break up the hierarchical structure. The lighting, the actor, the space, the text or the movement can each in turn become the essential element. Here, Rachid Seddouk explores a new type of theatrical performance. The place of the performance, although fixed, is no longer limited by the traditional format of an auditorium. The start and the end of the performance are defined by the motion capture of the audience as they enter and leave. The start of the show is no longer fixed – it depends when the spectator passes by. Rachid Seddouk wanted to deal with the body’s limits using the transparency of the display. He wanted to tell a woman’s story and it was then that he encountered some prostitutes who allowed him to give content to his form. It became obvious : he had to tell their story
