CERN and Ars Electronica again launched an open call to win a fully funded residency for up to 2 months at CERN followed by a residency at the Ars Electronica Futurelab.

Open Call: art&science

 Collide(at)CERN Ars Electronica Award

This open call continues a very successful collaborative relationship between CERN and Ars Electronica. Three residences have been staged over the past three years under the aegis of the Collide(at)CERN program. The recipients were Julius von Bismarck (DE), Bill Fontana (US) and Ryoji Ikeda (JP).

CERN and Ars Electronica Futurelab

The first part of the residency will be for a period of two months and will take place at CERN. During this time, the winning artist(s) will have access to an appointed scientist from CERN to work with and CERN will provide the winning artist(s) with access and curated experience at CERN, as well as a dedicated office on the CERN site. The second part of the residency will be for a period of one month and will take place at the Ars Electronica Futurelab (Linz) with whom the winner will develop the project inspired by their time in residence at CERN.

Online Submission

We are looking for digital artists who will be truly inspired by CERN, showing their wish to engage with the ideas and/or technology of particle physics and with CERN as a place of scientific collaboration, using them as springboards of the imagination which dare to go beyond the paradigm.
Artists can apply for a CERN residency at http://www.aec.at/artandscience.
The submission deadline is June 23, 2015.

Presentation at the Ars Electronica Festival, the Globe of Science and Innovation (CERN) as well as travel exhibitions

The artist and his/her proposal will be presented at the Ars Electronica Festival 2015. Furthermore the awarded artist will also be expected to give public lectures at CERN at the beginning and end of his/her residency. The results are going to be showcased both at the Ars Electronica Festival 2016 and at the Globe of Science and Innovation at CERN as well as in the framework of modular/mobile exhibtions at the seven cultural partner institutions (Center for the Promotion of Science in Serbia, DIG Gallery in Slovakia, Zaragoza City of Knowledge Foundation and LABoral in Spain, Kapelica Gallery in Slovenia, GV Art in England and the Science Gallery in Ireland).
